Winter Quarters (Omaha Nebraska)
After the Saints arrived at Council Bluffs (the far west of the "then" U.S.A., the government asked that 500 men be called to the Mormon Brigade to help fight the Mexicans. The men grudgingly agreed so that their families could travel across the Missouri River to live peacefully for up to 2 years at what is now northern Omaha. The Saints were able to grow crops and regroup before they left for Utah.
The picture is of a statue of a family dragging a hand-cart and of Bill inside the Center trying his hand(s) at the same.
